Candyman – Trailer
A tense, eerie trailer built around the Candyman legend. Layers of distorted voices, reversed hits, and gritty textures set the mood for a story where trauma and myth blur together. The sound needed to feel uneasy, like something whispering just behind the mirror.
On this trailer I worked on both sound design and music, and most of the work stayed under the surface. People usually notice the loud scares, the screams, the big moments. But the real tension comes from the tiny things they don’t pay attention to. A heartbeat that shouldn’t be there. A scratch across a surface. A little bump that feels too close. Those details make your brain uncomfortable before anything loud even happens.
I used a lot of weird textures, reversed hits, and processed voices to build that uneasy feeling, like something is whispering behind the mirror and you just missed it. None of it is meant to stand out. It’s meant to crawl under the scene and sit in your stomach. When someone watches it and can’t explain why they feel nervous, that’s when it works. The small sounds are doing the heavy lifting.
