Halloween Kills – Trailer

Scary, loud, and sharp like a knife in the dark. The sound design for the “Halloween Kills” trailer builds tension with distorted textures, creepy pulses, and horror stabs to match Michael Myers’ rampage. No subtlety here, just straight-up fear.

For this trailer I handled the sound design, but the trick was not to go overboard. When you work on a series as famous as Halloween, you don’t show off. You respect the legacy. The cuts already had great material in them, so instead of rebuilding everything, I kept a lot of the original sounds and pushed them just enough to feel modern and painful.

Sometimes sound design is loud, complex, and experimental. Sometimes it has to be invisible. On this one, the best move was staying out of the way and letting the horror speak for itself. I tightened the stabs, added tension pulses, and built a few distorted layers to make the hits land harder. But the main goal was simple: keep the fear, don’t ruin the vibe, and stay true to the franchise.

It’s funny, because people think horror trailers need a ton of new things thrown in. Not always. When something is already scary, your job is to make sure the audience feels it, not notice you. That’s what I aimed for here.

Creepy tech and monster vibes. The sound design for the Come Play trailer blends digital glitches, eerie textures, and sharp tension cues to shape a chilling story of isolation, screens, and something reaching through them. Built to feel unsettling and close.
