Human emotion

"Human Emotion” is the second EP by indie rock band Plastik Charm. Recorded using vintage gear and synths, it blends indie grit with an electronic edge. The title track looks at love not as a grand idea, but as a messy human reflex, imperfect, impulsive, and maybe not all that romantic.

The story

We started working on this EP long before the release. Some of the first ideas go back to 2011, when Ioan sent me rough recordings from the rehearsal room. He had written some lyrics and was playing around with the band. He asked me which ones stood out, and I remember saying Human Emotion and Take My Heart felt special. The songs sounded different back then, but the core ideas were already there.

We had worked well together before, so he trusted me to take the tracks further. I restructured and shaped them into what you hear on the final release. We kept the sound rooted in that electro-rock mix—somewhere between alternative rock, pop, and electronic—but this EP turned out more melodic than the earlier releases. Going from a song like Vibe to Take My Heart was a big shift in sound.

As the project evolved, other people came into the studio and helped shape the direction. Mike Dragomir on bass and Daniel Iudean on drums had just joined the band. They brought their own style and influences, which changed the way I approached the production.

We also started working with other studios like Studio Attic and No Stress Media, and experimented with new gear. People heard what we were doing and offered to support us—gear, space, time—which had a big impact on how the music developed.

For this release, I wasn’t just involved in the sound and production. I also worked on the cover art, the visuals, the overall presentation. It felt personal, and I wanted every detail to reflect that.
