Locked Down – Trailer
I handled the sound design and audio post for this trailer. The film follows a dissatisfied couple who concoct a daring heist while stuck in lockdown, which gave me room to experiment with sounds that slip into the music instead of sitting on top of it.
For this trailer I handled sound design and audio post. The movie mixes tension with humor, so the sound couldn’t be dark and heavy the whole time. I went in the opposite direction: simple, quirky, and a little playful. That contrast makes their heist plan feel even more absurd, which is exactly the point.
Most of the sounds in this one blend into the music instead of sitting on top of it. I used voices for small percussion hits, and tuned impacts, risers, and whooshes to match the key of the track. When sound effects share harmony with the music, they start feeling like instruments instead of “trailer sounds,” and the whole thing gets a smooth, rhythmic flow.
There’s also a classic heist trick in here: musical cues used as sound effects and cuts that land right on the beat. It keeps everything slick without being too serious.
It was a fun one — light, clever, and a nice break from the endless world of explosions and monsters.
