The story
When the song came out, some people thought it was meant to be an anthem. Maybe because of the big intro or because making national team anthems was trending at the time. But that wasn’t the brief. This was never meant to be an official anthem. It was a celebration song—something for the fans, for the team, for the joy of showing up and cheering loud for Romania at EURO 2016.
We made it with real excitement. Everyone who sings on it was chosen because they genuinely love this team and wanted to shout it from the rooftops. What’s UP actually came to me and Marius Moga with the lyrics idea and said, “Let’s make something loud. So loud that everyone hears it.”
When I’m in the studio with Marius, we end up doing some amazing things. We have great synergy together. Ideas flow fast and it always turns into something that feels right.
At the time we were also working on two other songs with Alina Eremia and Anda Adam, and they both wanted in. We called the loudest, wildest guitar players we knew, the Pocorschis, and asked Gabriel Cotabiță if he could help open the song with that unforgettable voice of his. He said yes.
The recording day was pure chaos in the best way. Jumping, yelling, laughing, cheering. Hard to even describe how much fun we had. Some of the backing vocals aren’t even singers. Just our friends, shouting like mad supporters in the studio.
The result is a mix of folklore vibes, heavy riffs, and pure happy noise. It’s not perfect, but it’s real. A song for anyone who ever screamed for their team and meant it.
