John Wick IV – Trailer

Elegant chaos, polished but savage. It’s John Wick, so the sound design for the trailer had to be intense. The goal was to match the film’s high-octane energy, packed into a tight format with something loud, layered, and intentionally not clean.

The trailer is all about nonstop action, stylized violence, and emotional intensity (never mess with the man’s dog). It’s a world of assassins, gun-fu chaos, and a brutal code of honor. The sound had to match that energy.

The recipe for this was a proper sound sandwich. My process involved building custom gunshot sounds on top of modular synths, software synth layers, and some pretty wild Radium patch stacks for texture. I also used Krotos Weaponiser with custom samples. A really fun project that was all about creating stylized chaos with sound.

Messy? Definitely. Fun? Absolutely

This sound design project was part of my research for The Matrix Awakens, created as a technical demonstration for Unreal Engine 5. I reimagined the audio for a slow-motion scene from the original Matrix film, rebuilding everything from scratch using Serum. It’s proof of how much can be done with limited tools and a bit of imagination.
