Saniuta fuge

Performed by Loredana Cavașdan, this winter carol brings back childhood in the best way. “Săniuța fuge” moves slow, like a memory, and hits right where it should. Snow, laughter, burning cheeks, and that feeling of freedom when the world was simple. It makes you smile first, then gets you a little teary when you realize how much you miss it.

The story

There’s no real way to describe this song. You just have to listen to it. It’s an instant trip back to childhood for anyone who ever played in the snow until night fell, cheeks burning, with not a single worry in the world.

We made it in one day. Loredana came in with her adaptation of the lyrics, and we recorded it right there, in the moment. We didn’t even talk much about it. She showed me the lyrics while we were already recording. What you hear is that raw, honest take. One take. No filters.

The next day we uploaded it to YouTube. No announcement, no press release, nothing. But somehow, people found it. It first started playing on kids’ radio shows, and from there it spread. Every winter since then, the song comes back. It’s still being played on radio today.

There’s no artist name on the upload, but here’s the secret. That voice—the one that might make you cry from pure joy—is Loredana Cavașdan. And this is the story behind the song.

  • Performed by Stela Boțan, this is a reimagined version of the Moldavian carol “Aprindeți luminile” (“Turn on the lights”), made with Cristian Condrea. It keeps the warmth and ritual of the original but gives it a fresh, timeless sound. “Florile dalbe” flows through it like a quiet blessing. Simple, heartfelt, and beautifully sung.
