This is a sound redesign for a short fight scene from Tides of Annihilation, an upcoming fantasy action game set between a broken modern London and the world of Avalon. The approach was more exploratory than cinematic, focusing on how combat feels moment to moment.

The scene was redesigned with a focus on balancing realism and fantasy, and kept without music on purpose. It was tempting to go big and dramatic, but letting the sound design stand on its own made every hit, movement, and reaction earn its place. Without music, weak decisions show up immediately.

Some of the weapon and movement sounds are built from synth layers combined with real recordings for texture. That middle ground helps the sound feel grounded but slightly unreal, which suits fantasy combat without drifting into full sci-fi territory.

Designed effort voices were added with input from LeShaman, who turned out to have a surprising talent for directing female effort performances. His sense of tone helped shape them so they felt believable without slipping into clichés. Small details, but they matter a lot in combat.

Overall, this was a curious and rewarding project. It was a chance to explore the challenges behind animated combat and how sound supports weight, timing, and intention. In this case, restraint taught more than going big.
